I was awarded my first ever photography award at the Beaumont Camera Club's end of year banquet. All the photos that had won our monthly contest were allowed to be entered at the end of the year for an independent judge to come choose a winner from. These were my good friend's best pictures and wow were they great! Some truly amazing and exceptional images were on display. I was so honored that my "Dream Lake Sunrise" was chosen for first place in my category for the club.

Dream Lake Sunrise

This picture was taken in the Summer of 2017 in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was on a family vacation with my wife and my two daughter's. We were staying right outside of the park in Estes Park, CO. This part of the country is one of my all time favorite places to be! The scenery, the animals, the air and the people are all great. The morning I took this image I woke up at 5:00 am to hike in the dark with local photographer Dawn Wilson to the location. After hiking in the dark and crossing an ice cold stream on a small log we set up our gear in a special spot she knew about and waited till the sun broke the horizon. You get only a few minutes where the morning sun turns the mountain pink. It then turns a beautiful bright orange before giving way to the standard color of the rocks. I can't thank Dawn Wilson enough for bringing me to this magical place.
